WELCOME TO YOU ALL!  IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE FALL!

I literally cannot watch television, listen to the news in my car or open my laptop computer screen that the “Swine Flu” isn’t getting 95% of all coverage.  I’m 59 years old and was my son Evan’s age when the first Swine Flu scare came about back in 1976. I recall thinking what hype it was and learned about 8 months later that my recollections were accurate.  Worse, we learned that Swine Flu vaccines, rushed to the market in 1976, were injurious.  What has changed?

Don’t get me wrong. I would feel horrible if I told you not to be concerned about “this one” as opposed to “that one” but this time we have a bit of history on our side.  It seems to me that in America, politics plays more of a role than science when pharmaceutical financial interests are at stake, and my hope is that we begin to clearly see a smattering of politics in most everything in science soon after “this one” blows over. I believe that we need to begin questioning science much more often that we currently do and perhaps “this one” will enable us to do that. Let March 2010 mark the date that the little boy cried wolf twice and frightened us all-again.  Throw in the “Bird Flu” scare of a few years ago, and the little boy has cried wolf three times already, and that’s just when dealing with “the flu!”

Add that physicians are now the 3rd leading cause of death in America (B. Starfield, JAMA, July 2000) and the little boy might no longer be trusted. Based on the fear tactics that have become mainstream in medicine, whom can we trust anymore?  Trust me…I’m not a doctor!  We want doctors who can differentiate hype from hope.  One such doctor writes in this issue of Know This!

Dr. Lynn Jennings has studied the Swine Flu thoroughly during the past 6 months and has written an informative article on it.  I know that you have friends and family who will be calmed by her article, so please forward this newsletter to them.  Her article is an eye opener for those of us who want immunity more than shots.

Kyle Drew teaches us how to catch the flu!  Sounds crazy, I know, but walk backwards through his article and you’ll find ways to prevent the flu from doing just the opposite of what he is suggesting!  This, from a dear friend of mine who, only 7 years ago, would have been teaching doctors how important flu shots, antibiotics and chemotherapy were in getting people better.  From his education as a pharmaceutical rep, Kyle has grown into a man who now questions the need for much that medical intervention has to offer, given that our health is often our own choice.  Learn from his article this month on how to choose good health.

Martie Whittekin, host of the very popular syndicated radio show, Healthy by Nature, takes time out of her busy schedule this month and honors us with an excellent article on how the term “medicine cabinet” is changing.  What used to be a place used exclusively for medications and more medications and more medications, can now be used to hold safe, inexpensive and useful products that contribute to heightened immunity and good health.  Click on the link that we have on her article as it opens the door to Martie’s store-a store loaded with products that you can immediately use to your benefit.

And now, sit back and relax and let the words within this newsletter encourage, rather than discourage, excite, rather than depress, and honestly inform, rather than scare you.  We have recently witnessed what occurs when “We, The People” rally around this issues that we are most passionate about.  Politics should have no place in medical “education.”

Thanks for being there with us!  Doug Kaufmann
