Dear Readers,

Skin problems are the bane of everyone but the dermatologist. In traditional medicine, the rules for treating dermatitis are this: "If it is dry, wet it. If it is wet, dry it. If it doesn't respond to treatment, refer it to a dermatologist." Not surprisingly, this doesn't treat the cause. With that said, let's begin this month's case study.

Dear Readers,

I realize that Valentine's Day has come and gone but I still have "hearts" on my mind. Why? One of my patients came in and reported that her cardiologist had told her that "she didn't need to take any of the supplements or antifungals" I had recommended. I told her that I would not use her real name and I suggested the alias Mrs. January. She said "I'd much rather be called Mrs. America." So would I. It never hurts to have a great sense of humor. We settled on Mrs. January America.

.

The holidays are fast upon us. For many people, that means a frantic rush to the stores, and decorating the home in anticipation of visits from family and friends. In the workplace, the holiday season is often a time of scrumptious, home-baked goodies and diets thrown to the wind.

With all of this in mind, let's begin this month's case study
