Why it is important
Doug talks extensively about the overuse and abuse of antibiotics. They destroy the cultures of beneficial bacteria in our intestines which help us digest food and manufacture essential vitamins. By destroying these "good" bacteria, we also compromise our immune system, and allow for the colonization of yeast and other pathogens in our digestive system which can then spread and cause numerous systemic health problems. Antibiotics are by definition mycotoxins, and mycotoxins have been indicated in many autoimmune diseases, including cancer. While antibiotics have saved many lives and are at times necessary, Doug contends that their misuse might be the source of may of our ailments today.
