Does Corn Cause Cancer?

Category: Food In The News

doug-headshot-bw

America no longer sends Russia our corn, which just happens to be “genetically modified” corn, or GMO.

Recently, Russian scientists ran studies on rats, using American corn. Rats live about 2 years, so they never sacrificed the rats, rather they let them live their full lives. Upon their death, researchers discovered and have now published in a medical journal that found raised levels of breast, liver and kidney cancer.

Was it Because American Corn Is GMO?

If GMO’s increased the risk of cancer in two year wouldn’t our rate of cancer be skyrocketing? Wait! It is skyrocketing! In my humbled opinion, GMO lacks scientific credibility and is not safe for human consumption. If it were, manufacturers would be proud of GMO products rather than lobbying against free label laws that allow consumers to vote with their money. You don’t know if you are eating GMO’s because the label does not have to disclose that information. If you’re eating in restaurants and/or buy your food from regular grocery stores, the chances are, you’re eating GMO food.

Fungus and Cancer 101
According to a 2002 article in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), our corn supply in America is “universally contaminated with mycotoxins.” That isn’t all. The types of mycotoxins made by the fungi that contaminate corn are capable of causing cancer in humans. Now, we’ve come fully cycle with the Russian researchers.

Is it the fact that American corn is genetically modified that increases its risk of cancer, or is it the fact that our corn is contaminated with a known cancer-causing agent? I only care and write about this because many Americans are still eating this stuff.. Even our cars are slowly being ruined as we use ethanol, a corn derivative, in our gas tanks. Why we continue to eat corn and corn products like high fructose corn sweeteners (where did those corn promotional TV ads go?) is way beyond me. We have plenty of good foods to eat that do not increase our risk of disease…be sensible and eat those!

Some will see this data and patent corn as a rattrap, while others see it as evidence that we need to change our way of thinking about corn.

The Germ That Causes Cancer

This book expounds upon the role of fungus in cancer.  Most physicians are unaware that common antibiotics may contribute to cancer while drugs that kill fungus often help cancer patients.  This is an important book that has been reduced to a much easier read for the layperson.  It includes a chemotherapy nurses notes, the confessions of a chemotherapy drug salesman and a physicians account of what he would do if he were diagnosed with cancer.  Includes diets.
